Branch Training: MBCT to Mindfulness for Life – 2- day Teacher Training
2 Day Workshop
Location
Online
Date
09/11/2024 - 16/11/2024
Time
09:00 - 17:00 GMT
Description
This programme assumes you are already trained to teach MBCT through a recognised, trainer-led, 1-year teacher training programme and have a regular personal mindfulness practice (click here to see Section C of the Good Practice Guidelines). Mindfulness for Life is a development of MBCT for the general population. Its structure is similar to the original MBCT for depression, with eight weekly sessions, home practice, and an all-day session. Alongside many of the practices and exercises from the original MBCT, it provides new practices and exercises to teach skills both for managing what is painful and difficult and for increasing wellbeing and flourishing. This workshop introduces the theoretical background and rationale for Mindfulness for Life, the structure and sequence of the curriculum, and the new practices and exercises. Curriculum materials and handouts for teaching the course are provided.
The OMF provides Confirmation of Attendance letters to all participants who attend 100% of the training
PLEASE NOTE
- This curriculum is intended to be delivered to adults over 18 years of age and is not applicable to children
- You do not need to complete this workshop if you are currently on the OMF 12-month cohort training route
- Bangor students are eligible for the 2-day MBCT to MBCT-L training if they have completed the module “Teaching 2” of the Masters programme and specialised in MBCT not MBSR. Otherwise they need to do the 5 day training.
What will I do on this course?
You will learn about the theoretical background and rationale for Mindfulness for Life, the structure and sequence of the curriculum, and practise teaching the new practices and exercises in small groups with trainer feedback.
Learning Outcomes
This workshop offers you the opportunity to:
- Learn about the theoretical and scientific foundations underpinning the MBCT-L curriculum.
- Understand the research evidence for the effectiveness of mindfulness-based programmes and how they work
- Experience the new practices and exercises, guided by the trainers
- Practice teaching the elements of the programme that are not found in the original MBCT for depression
