Branch Training – MBCT to Mindfulness for Life

2 Day Workshop

with Liz Lord
Location Online
Date 19/02/2022 - 26/02/2022
Time 09:00 - 17:00 GMT

This programme assumes you are already trained to teach MBCT through a recognised, trainer-led, 1-year teacher training programme. Mindfulness for Life is a development of MBCT for the general population. Its structure is similar to the original MBCT for depression, with eight weekly sessions, home practice, and an all-day session. Alongside many of the practices and exercises from the original MBCT, it provides new practices and exercises to teach skills both for managing what is painful and difficult and for increasing wellbeing and flourishing. This workshop introduces the theoretical background and rationale for Mindfulness for Life, the structure and sequence of the curriculum, and the new practices and exercises.

PLEASE NOTE This curriculum is intended to be delivered to adults over 18 years of age and is not applicable to children

Curriculum materials and handouts for teaching the course are provided.

IMPORTANT: You do not need to complete this workshop if you are currently on the OMC 12-month cohort training route

The OMC provides Confirmation of Attendance letters to all participants who attend our training events.

What will I do on this course?

You will learn about the theoretical background and rationale for Mindfulness for Life, the structure and sequence of the curriculum, and practise teaching the new practices and exercises in small groups with trainer feedback.

Before joining the OMC I worked as a school teacher, SENCO, CAMHS liaison and part of the Senior Leadership Team in a Pupil Health Referral Unit in Salford where I taught mindfulness to pupils and led its’ implementation. Previously I was an Assistant Head at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital school and before that, a primary school teacher. I have taught mindfulness courses to teachers, heads, parents and educational psychologists. I have an MSc in Mindfulness based approaches from Bangor University, where my particular interest was looking at mindfulness for school teachers.
