SESSIONS EVERY WEEKDAY
8-week course
Mindfulness for Life (sometimes referred to as MBCT-L) is a course designed to cultivate mindful awareness of our body, emotions and mind so that we can live our lives with a greater sense of wellbeing, kindness and resilience. It is an evidence-based course, developed in the light of research at Oxford University and other leading research centres.
It has two main intentions: to offer you some skills to meet life’s challenges and difficulties, both internal and external; as well as skills to develop more awareness and appreciation of the pleasant moments in life that we can often overlook. In other words, to respond more skilfully to all of life’s inevitable ups and downs.
This course is not being offered as a treatment for any specific physical or psychological conditions. Please do not sign up for this training if you are currently experiencing severe problems in these areas.
The course includes a longer Day of Practice, usually held on Saturday or Sunday towards the end of the course. This is an opportunity to deepen practice and, whilst an invaluable learning experience, does not form part of the core teaching.
Full Dates: Fridays: 16/02, 23/02, 01/03, 08/03, 15/03, 22/03, 29/03, 05/04 at 10:00-12:15 UK time
PLEASE NOTE: The UK time zone changes during this course. The UK is currently in Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and changes to British Summer Time (BST) on last Sunday in March. Sessions 1-8 will start at 10:00 GMT, and the remaining session will start at 10:00 BST. Please ensure you check the timings of this course and how this corresponds to your own time zone.
In addition we ask that you reserve 12/04 for the unlikely event that the teacher may need to reschedule a session.
Day of Practice: Saturday 23/03 (10:00-15:00)
What happens after I complete the course?
I am a qualified Social Worker, graduating from University of Umea, Sweden in 1979, when I moved to the UK. In 2006, I met Professor Mark Williams and began my training as an MBCT Teacher. I was then invited to join Mark’s team and became involved in developing the Oxford Mindfulness Centre (OMC). I worked initially as part of the research team, teaching patients with recurring depression the 8-week MBCT course and in 2011 initiated the delivery of the courses to the general population. I was also responsible for managing the training of clinicians, within the Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust. I have continued to offer supervision in the Health Service in both Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Read more here
