SESSIONS EVERY WEEKDAY
8-week course
Mindfulness for Life (sometimes referred to as MBCT-L) is a course designed to cultivate mindful awareness of our body, emotions and mind so that we can live our lives with a greater sense of wellbeing, kindness and resilience. It is an evidence-based course, developed in the light of research at Oxford University and other leading research centres.
It has two main intentions: to offer you some skills to meet life’s challenges and difficulties, both internal and external; as well as skills to develop more awareness and appreciation of the pleasant moments in life that we can often overlook. In other words, to respond more skilfully to all of life’s inevitable ups and downs.
This course is not being offered as a treatment for any specific physical or psychological conditions. Please do not sign up for this training if you are currently experiencing severe problems in these areas.
The course includes a longer Day of Practice, usually held on Saturday or Sunday towards the end of the course. This is an opportunity to deepen practice and, whilst an invaluable learning experience, does not form part of the core teaching.
Full Dates: Tuesdays: 26/03, 02/04, 09/04, 16/04, 23/04, 30/04, 07/05, 14/05 at 19:00-21:15 UK Time
In addition we ask that you reserve 21/05 for the unlikely event that the teacher may need to reschedule a session.
Day of Practice: Saturday 04/05 (08:00-13:00) UK time.
PLEASE NOTE: The UK time zone changes during this course. The UK is currently in Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and changes to British Summer Time (BST) on last Sunday in March. Session 1 will be on GMT, and the remaining sessions will be on BST. Please ensure you check the timings of this course and how this corresponds to your own time zone.
What happens after I complete the course?
I facilitate MBCT groups and support the awareness of mindfulness in the community (public, schools, university, workplaces, hospitals) through offering introductory and integrative workshops based on needs. I am motivated by the benefits that integrating mindfulness has gifted to my life and the lives of many who have attended and recognise that cultivating awareness may be a skill that is as fundamental to breathing to keep our body alive, as to keep our mind well. I remain open to working in various countries e.g. with Mindfulness Works, New Zealand and Australia facilitating and mentoring new facilitators, Shan You Counselling Centre in Singapore, and freelance through Nature and Nurture Sparks wherever there are requests. I serve as a bridge for OMC services to reach the community around the world.
