This module is intended to prepare participants to start to teach under supervision and work towards their Trained Teacher certification.  If you are on the OMC modular training route, you are required to complete this training after Modules 1, 2, and 3 and all required workshops, including:

  • Group Skills
  • Origins of Mindfulness
  • Ethics, Orientation & Assessment
  • Research & Evaluation

If you completed Module 1&2 prior to 2020 please contact us for advice as you may also need to complete the workshop on Cognitive and Behavioural Foundations of MBCT.

The OMC provides Confirmation of Attendance letters to all participants who attend our training events. Certificates are issued only after completion of the teacher training pathway, through a formal application process not linked to this event.

What will I do on this course?

In Module 4, trainees teach a full 8-week MBCT curriculum to each other in a group, with feedback from each other and the trainers. Each trainee is assigned practices, inquiries, exercises, and other elements of the curriculum to guide or lead. This experience builds on the basic skills developed earlier in the training programme, the increased embodiment developed during the retreat, and your continued personal study and practice of the training material. This training also cultivates a deeper understanding of the structure and sequence of the curriculum, including intentions for each session and for the practices and exercises.

    Learning Outcomes

By the end of this training, participants are expected to be able to
    • Lead practices and exercises consistently with their intentions and steps and in an embodied way.
    • Understand the structure and organization of each session and the curriculum as a whole
    • Reflect on their teaching strengths and learning needs in terms of the MBI:TAC
    • Teach at the advanced beginner level as defined by the MBI:TAC, based on informal assessment

I have supervised mindfulness teachers working internationally as well on the IAPT teacher training programme and locally within the NHS. As a trainer I've co-taught a number of modules on Foundation Courses for OMC and have mentored many trainees as part of this. As well as MBCT-D I've taught Finding Peace Classes for staff in teams and more recently have been teaching MBCT L online for OMC.
