OMC Branch
Training

Our branch trainings enable trained teachers of MBCT and MBSR to train to teach Mindfulness for Life. These trainings have been designed considering the existing skills and competencies of MBCT and MBSR teachers and focuses exclusively on those elements of the Mindfulness for Life curriculum that are new or distinct and that require teachers to gain additional knowledge or skills.

Mindfulness for Life is a development of MBCT for the general population. It includes 8 weekly sessions, home practice, and an all-day session and teaches skills both for working with painful and difficult experience and for increasing wellbeing and flourishing.

These teacher trainings include theoretical and empirical foundations for Mindfulness for Life, the structure and sequence of the curriculum, and learning to teach key practices and exercises, including cognitive-behavioural exercises, appreciation and befriending practices, and a sitting with difficulty practice. We also include discussion of how breathing spaces are used and how inquiry is conducted in Mindfulness for Life.

We assume that all participants are experienced teachers of the practices that are present in both Mindfulness for Life and in the curriculum they have already trained.
